Crypto is the payment method that cannot be declined by an issuer, charged back by a buyer, or switched off by a processor's risk team. It is also the method most buyers do not have ready. The useful pattern is to keep cards first and add a crypto rail as the last route in the cascade. Here is how to do that on Shopify, and what the native options can and cannot do.
Shopify lists several crypto providers as alternative payment methods in supported countries, including Coinbase Commerce, BitPay and Crypto.com Pay. They appear beside cards at checkout, take BTC, ETH, USDC and other assets, and settle to you in crypto or, with some providers, in fiat. They do not replace the card gateway, and they carry Shopify's third-party transaction fee if Shopify Payments is not active.
On an own-domain checkout, a crypto rail becomes one route among several. Cards go first, to one or more acquirers. If every card route declines, or the buyer prefers it, the checkout offers a stablecoin or coin payment through Coinbase Commerce or a similar provider. The order is written into Shopify like any other, with the payment reference and a tag showing the route.
Your primary and backup acquirers take the attempt, with rotation on soft declines.
Stablecoins such as USDC keep the amount fixed; volatile coins are quoted with a short validity window.
Confirmed on-chain, then written back with the transaction hash on the order.
Yes, through listed crypto providers such as Coinbase Commerce, BitPay and Crypto.com Pay in supported countries, as an alternative method beside cards.
No. Most buyers still pay by card. Get a card gateway that approves your category and keep crypto as the last route for buyers who cannot or will not use a card.
On-chain payments cannot be reversed by the buyer's bank. Disputes are handled by your refund policy instead.

CascadeCheckout is checkout software, not a payment service provider, bank or merchant-account seller. You contract with your own gateway or acquirer, disclose your real business category to them, and receive payouts from them. We never hold funds and we do not promise that any processor will approve you.
