Shopify Payments banned

Shopify Payments banned? Keep the store. Change the checkout.

Shopify Payments is one payment method inside Shopify. Your store, products, apps, customers, fulfillment, discount codes and reports are all separate. When Shopify Payments closes an account, the store is intact. You do not need a new domain, a new theme, a new product catalog or a new Shopify plan. You need a checkout that runs off Shopify Payments and connects the processors you bring. That is what CascadeCheckout is.

What usually happens next

You get the email — the tone is polite, the outcome is not. Shopify Payments has terminated your account after review. Any pending payouts are held for the reserve window (often 120 days). Native Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay stop working because they run through Shopify Payments. Your checkout page now looks broken to buyers even though the store itself is fine.

The default advice inside operator groups is start a new store on a new EIN. That is a two-week rebuild, a fresh SEO cold-start, lost historic orders, lost customer accounts, lost apps configuration, and the same acquirer risk on the next store. It also does not solve the underlying issue: Shopify Payments has a category list, and if your product sits on the wrong side of that list, the next store will get cut too.

Cascade is the other path. Keep the store. Move the checkout off Shopify Payments. Wire two or three MIDs behind it that do approve your category. If one gets tight later, cascade rotates. No rebuild.

Why the store can stay

Shopify's admin, storefront, product catalog, cart, discount engine, app ecosystem, and Admin API are all unaffected by a Shopify Payments termination. CascadeCheckout uses the same Shopify Storefront and Admin APIs your theme already uses. Buyers add to cart in the exact same way. When they hit the Buy button on your product page, they get routed to checkout.your-brand.com instead of Shopify's native checkout. Card entered, gateway captures, order writes back to Shopify Admin tagged [cascade]. Fulfillment continues normally.

What you actually lose when Shopify Payments cuts you. The native Shopify checkout page. Shop Pay express. Bogus wallet flows tied to Shopify Payments. That is it. Everything else — your store, products, apps, buyers, ads, tracking — stays.

What Cascade actually does

Three pieces:

  1. Own-domain checkout. A checkout page hosted on a subdomain of your brand. PCI-tokenized card entry direct to your gateway. Multi-locale, mobile-first, wallet-friendly where the underlying gateway supports it.
  2. Multi-MID cascade. Two, three or four gateway routes wired in a priority order. Every attempt is scored on decline signals, 3DS failures, velocity blocks and MCC restrictions. If the primary route fails, the next route captures inside 400ms. Buyer sees no error.
  3. Shopify order mirror. After capture, the order is written to Shopify Admin with full line items, buyer, shipping address, discount and cascade route tag. Your fulfillment app, tracking tool, ERP, analytics and reports keep working.

How setup works

1

Wire your processors

Send us API keys for the gateways that already approved your category — NMI, Nuvei, Airwallex, Adyen high-risk desk, PXP, Whop, offshore MID, custom HTTP.

2

Checkout on your domain

We stand up checkout.your-brand.com with TLS and PCI tokenization. Suppress native Shopify Payments express buttons that no longer resolve.

3

Rotate when a route dies

Cascade auto-rotates on decline, timeout, throttle. Order lands in Shopify tagged [cascade:route-2] so you see which MID caught the sale.

What we do NOT do

Frequent questions

My Shopify Payments account was banned. Is my store gone?

No. Shopify Payments is just one payment method inside Shopify. Your store, products, apps, customers and fulfillment are all separate. You keep the store and connect your own gateway through CascadeCheckout.

How fast can I start taking payments again?

24 to 48 hours from the moment you send us your replacement gateway API keys.

Which gateways can I use if Shopify Payments cut me?

NMI, Nuvei, Airwallex, Adyen (high-risk desk), PXP, Whop, offshore MIDs, straight banking acquirers, custom HTTP. Anything with an API.

Will my orders still show in Shopify?

Yes. Orders sync back to Shopify tagged [cascade] with buyer info, line items, discount codes and shipping address intact. Fulfillment, apps and reports work like before.

Bring your Shopify domain + the gateway that said yes.
