Shopify's native checkout lives at shop.app or Shopify's own hosted domain, not yours. That works when Shopify Payments is your processor. It breaks the moment you want to plug in a gateway Shopify does not accept — or Shopify Payments cuts you. Own-domain checkout means the buyer stays on checkout.your-brand.com from the moment they click Buy to the moment they see the thank-you page. Same brand. Same trust signal. Same domain that ran their ad click.
A checkout page served from a subdomain of your brand — for example checkout.acme.com — with a TLS certificate issued to your brand's domain. Card entry happens in an iframe or token bridge that talks directly to your gateway. No marketplace redirect. No shop.app handoff. No vendor-checkout.com mid-flow. Just your brand, your URL, your gateway.
Three reasons operators move to own-domain checkout:
acme.com convert better on checkout.acme.com than on a payment-marketplace URL they have never seen. Trust signal stays intact from ad to receipt.API keys for the gateways you want on the cascade. One MID for Starter. Up to four for Growth. Unlimited for Scale.
We provision checkout.your-brand.com with TLS, PCI-compliant tokenization, mobile-first UX, multi-locale. Native Shopify Payments express buttons suppressed so buyers land in the cascade.
Every attempt scored on decline signals, timeouts, throttle. Next healthy MID captures in under 400ms. Shopify order written back tagged [cascade].
Send-away checkout vs own-domain. A "send-away" checkout routes buyers to a shared payment marketplace URL (whop.com/checkout/…, vendor-checkout.co/pay). Own-domain means the URL is a subdomain of the brand the buyer already trusts. In tested drops, own-domain has landed 4-11% higher on card-approval rates versus send-away, driven mostly by fewer drop-offs at the "wait, why am I on this other site?" moment.
Your Shopify storefront runs unchanged. The Buy button on your product page fires a cart create against your Shopify Storefront API. When the buyer hits checkout, they redirect to your own subdomain instead of Shopify's native checkout URL. That subdomain is served by CascadeCheckout — pulling cart contents from Shopify Storefront API, presenting a checkout form, tokenizing the card directly with your gateway, capturing payment through the cascade, and writing the resulting order back to Shopify Admin API with the cascade route tag. All the app hooks that fire on Shopify Admin order-created events (Klaviyo, Recharge, ReCharge, fulfillment) fire normally.
Yes — through a checkout subdomain of your brand (checkout.your-brand.com) served by CascadeCheckout. Cart flows in from your Shopify storefront, capture happens through your gateway, order writes back to Shopify.
Yes, in most cases. Buyers do not get sent to an unfamiliar payment marketplace URL. The domain matches the brand they clicked. Trust signal stays intact from ad to receipt.
Wallet support depends on the underlying gateway. Where your gateway supports Apple Pay and Google Pay, the cascade continues to work. Native Shopify Payments express buttons (Shop Pay) are suppressed because they route to Shopify Payments, which is what you are moving off.
Every captured order writes back to Shopify Admin with buyer, line items, discount codes, shipping address and a cascade route tag. Fulfillment, apps and reports work like before.
Bring your gateway API keys. We do the rest.
